Corrosion inhibitor, we coin the name CORROPROOF ,is a chemical additive which when added in very small amount to a corrosive environment stops or reduces the rate of metal loss(wastage)The quantum of metal loss is expressed in terms of milligram per square decimetre per day(mdd) Corrosion inhibitors play vital roles in petroleum and process industries where they are considered to be the first line of defence against corrosion of metallics resulting phenomenal loss to the nation.
They may be cathodic, anodic, or mixed type. They are composed of inorganic and/or organic chemicals, they function either by forming monomolecular chemisorbed film over corroding metal surface or as scavenger of dissolved oxygen in water equally responsible for onset and propagation of electrochemical corrosion resulting pitting and /or rusting of metals.
The imperative task of corrosion protection, therefore, cannot be overlooked which incurs huge loss of wealth every day globally.
COROPROOF is a complete package of tailor-made, state of the art, speciality chemical inhibitors intended for specific application areas as summarised below:-
- Acid cleaning(pickling) of carbon steel with hydrochloric, sulphuric, citric, or sulfamic acids whether at ambient or elevated temperatures.
Dosage:- 0.3 to 0.4% by volume of cleaning media (Acid bath) - Boiler feed water treatment for minimising pitting/corrosion of boiler tubes exposed continually to the menace of dissolved oxygen at elevated temperature throughout service life in all types of water tube boilers.
Dosage:- 0.2-0.3% by volume of feed water - Radiator cooling fluid in automobile engines.
Dosage:- 0.3% to 0.4% by volume of coolant fluid - Low make-up circulating water in cooling and heating cycles in heat exchangers and cooling towers in process plants continually corroding tubes/pipes of the plant without being noticed except during breakdown or repair maintenance time
Dosage:- 0.3 to 0.4% by volume of circulating water - Concrete reinforcing bars protection against carbonation and/or chloride induced corrosion during their service lives:-
CORROPROOF to be employed as liquid admixture ( added in gauging water) at concrete batching plant along with plastisers etc.,
Dosage for unhardened concrete.:- 1-1.5% by weight of cement per cubic meter of concrete
For hardened concrete , as surface-applied (spray, brush roller) migrating corrosion inhibitor (MCI). for protection,repair, or rehabilitation of spalled concrete structures to ensure protection of rebars from menace of corrosion.in adverse environments.
Dosage:- 0.5kg per square meter of surface ( total 3 coats)
CORROPROOF (BOILER PARTS)
A Speciality Chemical product from CHEMI-CULTURE where chemical molecules are synthesized for protection of equipment from CORROSSION.
Boiler parts such as condenser tubes; superheaters etc containing steam are susceptible to corrosion due to dissolved oxygen in steam unless it is removed by a suitable oxygen scavenger. Boilers running with water/ steam containing dissolved oxygen are easily corroded requiring frequent shut down for maintenance resulting loss in productivity and operational time. CORROPROOF( BOILER PARTS ) developed by CHEMI-CULTURE is an organic oxygen scavenger based on heterocyclic organic amine compound which when added @ 0.3% by weight of feed water will chemically combine with the dissolved oxygen and neutralize the feed water from the development of acidic pH of at high temperature 100 degree Celsius and above
Method of Addition / use
To be mixed with feed water @ 0.3% ( 3 kg per Ton of Boiler feed water) to ensure long life of Boiler tubes and parts continuously in contact with steam/ hot water.
